Part of the Heritage Trail
Berisha Family Martyrs Museum
About this place
The walls and ceilings still carry the bullet marks. Glass cases hold photographs and personal belongings of the family, and amateur video from the time plays on a screen. Our fieldwork photographs were all taken here, during a guided visit with a family member.
History & background
On 26 March 1999, during the Kosovo war, dozens of members of the Berisha family were killed in Suhareka — one of the gravest crimes of the war. The museum preserves their memory and the evidence of what happened.
